1932

Alexander Copley devises a plan that provides
his community with health care and education.

This day in 1932 was the second day of an open house that attracted more than 1200 people to Copley Hospital in Morrisville.

Alexander Copley wanted to construct a new hospital for his hometown, but upon learning about the dire need for a school as well, he scaled back plans for a new hospital building.

Instead, he purchased the property of A. P. Wheelock, which consisted of a house, barn and land. Copley paid for the renovations, connecting the house and barn, and provided medical equipment.

Savings from the revised hospital provided money for a new school, too. The original hospital is now Copley House.
