Burglars take on a simple little robbery...
and get just about everything about it...wrong.

Unidentified burglars were moving a 200 pound cash register on this day in 1920.

It was the early morning hours of November 20th, and the robbers decided to take the cash from the Charles M. Seaver & Co. feed store in Williamstown.

After moving the heavy cash register a mile from the crime scene, the burglars smashed it open with a sledge hammer.

The cash register had no money in it - not one cent. The only thing of value was the cash register itself, which lay in pieces.

Oh, and would you look at that...the thieves hadn't noticed, but the key to open the cash drawer was plainly visible right there in the lock.
