The police chief and residents of
Richford couldn't believe their eyes on this night, Friday,
November 13, 1981.
Northern Vermont was in the midst of a blackout, and then people
saw brightly colored orange lights. The Richford Police Chief looked
at those two lights in the sky in wonder.
He radioed the local ambulance service to see if he was imagining
things. He wasn't, and it seems at least 25 other residents
had noticed the glowing spheres moving through the sky as well.
The following night, a Newport City police officer and other Newport
residents reported seeing a similar phenomenon in the skies over
Newport.

By day, the welcome arch to Richmond looks quite unassuming.
By night, is
it possible that it played host to UFOs?
