The cutting edge of communications makes its way to Alburgh Center,
one line at a time.

Alburgh Center residents who hadn't seen the progress first hand got a chance to read about it on this day in 1904. The St. Albans Weekly Messenger reported the big story from Alburgh Center, explaining the expansion oftelephone service from Alburgh to Alburgh Center. Telephone lines were being installed, one at a time, by a man from Burlington. Construction was a slow and difficult task, but would speed up communication immensely.

When the lines were finally finished, Alburgh Center would join the high-tech world and have nine functioning telephones. Alburgh Center residents could hardly wait.
