Maybe that's why they lived in such a strange house.

Everett Hood was getting married to a gypsy on this day in 1903. That really didn't surprise anyone in Barre. Everyone knew of Everett Hood. He was a shear sharpener, but people knew him because of his house.

He owned a building on wheels that looked something like a short railcar. It was a homemade version of today's mobile home with fold out beds and tables. The outside was covered with advertising for his sharpening business.

Hood and his wife and children lived in the trailer for many years. When they did occasionally move, one of the city's steam rollers would be used to tow their home to its new location.
