A coalition of outdoor enthusiasts, landowners and volunteers
make a VAST difference. On the go in the snow.

On January 27, 1967, the first organizational meeting of the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers or VAST, was held in Colchester. Forty years later, VAST has more groomed trails than Vermont has paved roads, ALL groomed by volunteers.

VAST initiated the first unified trail marking system, boasts the longest snowmobile bridge in the U.S., maintains statewide rescue equipment that’s always on call, and donates thousands to charities.

With 80 percent of its trails on private property, VAST emphasizes "With every privilege comes a responsibility." VAST uses the media to thank Vermont landowners.
