On
August 20, 1931, Vermont residents were reading about a significant
confiscation of illegal alcohol on the Canadian border. A party
of cars tried to cross from Canada into Holland.
Patrolmen
from Derby Line intercepted the caravan, catching four cars, three
of which were Cadillac sedans. Patrolmen believed at least two cars
got away before they blocked the road. The captured cars and 3,900
bottles of ale and liquor were secured.
The
patrol was disappointed they didn't catch a single driver,
because the infamous trafficker, G. Parker of Lyndonville, was believed
to be the ring leader.
